Kamen Rider Blade King Form
Greetings my fellow brothers and sisters in toys collecting or to whoever it is that is reading this. Ghost_XIII here, reporting in to bring you yet another review. For this time around, lets again take a break from the usual stylized toys and I present to you guys SHF Kamen Rider Blade King Form.
This is the final form for Kamen Rider Blade achieved by using the Evolution King card but given the user has an abnormally high fusion rating, the card caused all 13 Undead to fuse with him. I think this is the first final form ever to be made as an exclusive(I refuse to acknowledge Super Climax :p) and I find it quite weird that King form is released before Jack form. Anyway……
As this is an exclusive release, King form arrived in the brown box of exclusivity.
The actual box itself is still windowless(trademark for exclusive stuff) but very colourful.
Inside the box, everything is laid out on a single plastic tray. You will be getting:
-King form
-King Rouser
-fanned out Absorber
-13 Undead cards
-splayed open hands(left, right)
-holding things hands(left, right)
-holding things hand but slightly angled(left, right)
-right hand for card holding
You will also receive a sheet of sticker for the Absorber and of course, instruction manual.
Out of the box, the figure is ready to go.
The first time I saw the promo images, the gold looks very dull and I kinda wish it was more lustrous thus this release did not catch my attention. But after seeing some in-hand images and seeing him in person, the gold used is actually very good. Not too shiny but not dull at all. The details and looks are as screen-accurate as you can get.
I’m not sure if you can make it out from the pics above but the accuracy of the Undead sculpt is INSANE. This is SHF we are talking about. Can you imagine how small this is?
I refuse to believe an actual human being actually sculpt those things. My bet Bandai 3D printed a cast or something to achieve that kind of accuracy.
In the articulation department, its pretty much the standard stuff. Credits to the shoulder pad as they do not get in the way at all and moves very fluidly with the arm.
The only thing that’s a little limited is in the elbow bend as the bulky forearm armor is in the way but still the range is adequate in my opinion.
One thing to be very careful of is the shoulder pad’s connection on the shoulder. How should I say this……. They are not fragile if you consider the material but it’s the nature of small and thin stuff, they can break if a wrong direction or magnitude of force is applied.
Looking up or down is no issue.
If a figure can pull an Iron Man pose, you can bet its very poseable.
Next is the accessory department. First of is the Rouzer cards. They all have the same back side.
Category Ace
Spade 2: Slash
Spade 3: Beat
Spade 4: Tackle
Spade 5 : Kick
Spade 6 : Thunder
Spade 7 : Metal
Spade 8 : Magnet
Spade 9 : Mach
Spade 10 : Time
Fusion Jack
Absorb Queen
Evolution King
A specialized right hand is included to hold the cards.
Next is the Absorber. This is the fanned out version. You will need to apply some stickers on the card before using it. Just remove the default Absorber and tab this version on to use.
Finally is the signature weapon for King form, the King Rouzer.
There is a peg at the back side of the sword where you can mount it on King’s waist but given the size, it looks wacky. There is also a slot on the sword where you can put the card in just like in the show but the effect is very minimal so I don’t really care about that particular gimmick.
King can wield his weapon with no problem. I wish Blade Rouzer is also included but oh well….
So, should you buy this?
The obvious bad thing first, THE PRICE. Bought mine for MYR200 which is about USD60. That can be consider cheap in my country. I’m not sure what’s the status of the price for this set as of writing but usually I can see them go higher. Even at that ‘cheap’ price, I felt that’s pushing it a bit for an SHF because if you add a little more, you can get the SIC version already. Your mileage will vary there.
The good thing is, the figure itself is a joy to handle. I thought the shoulder pad gonna get in the way a little but no, they don’t. Just the connection used for them is a little worrying. The details are awesome. Just see the pics of the Undead on King’s armor and remember, this is an SHF we are talking about. Even on the SIC version, the sculpting looks a little murky and to think a totally accurate sculpt can be done on a lot smaller figure totally blew my mind. But does all of this worth USD60 or more? That’s for you to answer ;).
With that, that’s the end of this review. Hope you guys enjoy reading it. As usual, any comments or critics(positive or negative) are always welcomed to improve my review the next time around. This is Ghost_XIII, reporting out :).
