Kamen Rider OOO Sagohzo Combo

Before reading this review, try reading the review of Putotyra(here) particularly on the form swap gimmick as I can’t do it on this figure.

Greetings my brothers and sister of toys collecting or whoever it is that’s reading this. Ghost_XIII here, reporting in to bring you yet another review. For this time around, we will look at the latest offering from the SIC line(as of writing), Kamen Rider OOO Sagohzo combo. Its written as Saguzo in most material I’ve seen but lets stick with the box spelling.

1

Since this is an exclusive release, Sagohzo arrived in the mystical brown box of exclusivity from Bandai.

The actual box is actually quite a step up from the old exclusive SIC with illustration and colours all over. Still windowless though as usual.

Inside the box, everything is served on a single layer of plastic tray. You will be getting:

6

-Sagohzo
-3 cell medals(Sai, Gorilla, Zou)
-splayed open hands(left, right)
-holding things hands(left, right)
-right medals holding hand
-clear chest pieces
-Sagohzo’s beast mode parts(head,armsX2,legsX2)
-Gatakiriba’s beast mode head

and of course, instruction manual.

Out of the box, the figure is ready to go.

7

For the first time I saw the SIC redesign for this combo, I am SOLD. I quickly preordered it as soon as it was up and I glad I did. I absolutely adore the bulked up proportion on this figure. It carries the theme of the combo a lot better than the actual design. The added side skirt is a nice touch which reminds me of a samurai of sort. The details on the figure is not a lot as I’m used to(plus they are also symmetrical) but I don’t mind.

19

In lieu with the other OOO SIC, Sagohzo also have hidden writings but its very sketchy.

20

I think that’s rhinoceros.

21

Gorilla is quite easy to read.

22

Elephant?

The diecast in this set is downright disappointing. The only metal in this set is at the knee pads.

23

Although from the same series, Sagohzo have a different base body to accommodate all those bulk. Surprisingly, Sagohzo is at the same height like the other OOO forms. I wish he is taller to accompany his bulky stature but if he is, I would probably complained he is out of scale from the other OOO ^^;.

24

Moving to articulation, Sagohzo surprisingly have a great range. The only thing that feels limited is unsurprisingly the arms. Even with said limitation, I think the range is adequate for his size.

25

The jointing is the same as the other OOO series but given a new base body, I’ll show the range. The arm is a bit cluttered with the Gori Bagoon gauntlet(yes, that’s the gauntlet official name) but if you remove the gauntlet, the usual double-jointed range can be achieve.

26

The head can’t really look up but looking down is no problem.

27

The side skirt is on a hinge unlike the one on Putotyra and I actually like this method more.

28

One damning thing about this figure is that its torso does not have any locking tab or peg. So when you flex the body or move it around, high chances the torso might get stuck inside and revealing an awful gap.

29

Despite its bulkiness, Sagohzo can pull off a pretty good Ironman pose.

30

31

One unique gimmick for this set is you can remove the Gori Bagoon gauntlet. Be very careful when you want to do so as the pegs that holding the two pieces is quite tight and a friend of mine already broke one of the pegs on his copy.

32

Stand not included.

33

34

Moving on to accessory, first up is the obligatory OOO scanner.

35

I also found out that it’s very difficult trying to change the hand if you don’t remove the gauntlet.

36

37

Next is the cell medal of Sai(Rhino), Gorilla, Zou(Elephant). Nothing spectacular really other than it is sculpted very nicely. You can store this in the medal holder on the side skirt.

38

Next is the core medal. Exactly the same as the cell medals but painted differently. Sorry for the dark picture. The medals are too clear and with my lighting, almost impossible to capture the details. This can be accessed by removing the OOO driver.

39

The clear chest pieces are also included if you want to create random combo with the other OOO SIC. Again, they are very clear.

40

41

In theory, you can do the random combo gimmick with Sagohzo but when I separate the body parts, I realize the jointing is totally different. Unlike me, if you have the balls, you certainly can swap parts by swapping the part I rounded in the picture but given the tightness of it, I highly recommend that you DON’T. Plus the torso of the gorilla part do not fit in any of the belt of the other OOO. So you are stuck with the elephant side skirt.

42

43

Before moving to the beast part, this set also included an extra head for Gatakiriba beast mode. Maybe I’ll review him or Shauta next.

And now, for the meat and potato of this set, THE BEAST PARTS.

44

First is the rhino head. It’s the same head as Sagohzo but with a protruding horn. Reminded me of pinocchio.

45

46

47

Next is the gorilla arm. The hand attached to this arm is on a peg actually, so you can swivel them around. There’s a hinge at the wrist and at the knuckle. I wish the fingers were individually articulated.

48

49

50

51

And finally the elephant leg with an elephant head on top. Trunk and tusks…The reason Sagohzo became an in joke in my local SIC community as the only SIC that have three trunks. I leave it to you to figure out what that means :p. Other than that, it’s a nicely detailed leg. The ankle cuff is made loose but I don’t mind. The foot has some tilt-ability and the outer elephant’s ear can open up.

52

To attach all the beast part, you need to pull on all the default parts which leave you with this headless and limbless body. The tightness of the parts can be a little nerve wrecking but I don’t sense any fragility. Just be careful nonetheless.

53

This is why I love SIC. I wouldn’t mind at all if the articulation is severely hindered with all the added bulk to look this good. But NO. The added bulk did not hinder anything. OK, I lied, maybe a little but Sagohzo still retains 90% of his original articulation. The beast part did not weigh any joints down to my surprise.

54

55

56

57

Out of curiosity, I tried hanging the figure on the edge of the plastic cover that I’ve been using as a backdrop and holy s&^t…………

58

Those gorilla arms can actually function as gorilla arms. Well, as long as the hand can actually grip something that is.

Enjoy my first ever outdoor photo shoot.

So, should you buy this?

63

The ONLY thing that stands in the way of me totally recommending this set is the PRICE. I bought mine for about USD115. I’m used to the price of exclusive SIC but even for me that’s a pretty hard blow. Most preorder would cost USD90 or so. If you can get pass the price, YES, I would totally recommend this. The redesign is great and the play value is awesome. I really love the gorilla hands and the elephant feet. The flaw in the random combo gimmick might bump some people but I couldn’t care less. I love Sagohzo just the way it is. Plus, you also get a fancy new head for Gatakiriba(which may be a bit useless if you don’t own him :p ). If you are thinking of getting this guy, DO IT NOW while the price has not hiked up(as of writing).

That’s the end for this review. I hope you enjoy it. As always, any comments or critics(positive or negative) are welcomed. This is Ghost_XIII, reporting out :).
