Kimpo Warrior

Several years ago, there was an auction for this toy and the Gundam junior machinder, but since both toys seemed to be loose, I didn’t bother bidding on them and instead passed the auction along to Jerilock. Wouldn’t you know it, but it turned out that the seller did have the boxes, but just did not picture them in the auction. Naturally, had I known this I definitely would have purchased them myself. Thus began the long running, good natured ribbing between the two of us, wherein he’d often flaunt them over me, particularly after I bought a loose Gundam. Knowing I am a “box snob”, he just had to let me know at every opportunity that he had the box and I didn’t.

That’s okay, because every time he needed a few bucks for one thing or another, I’d always be there to say “Well, you’ve got some stuff I’d love to buy”! Well, it took a long time, but a few months ago, when I was selling off a bunch of my vinyl kaiju, he finally broke. It took five glowies to make it happen, but the Kimpo Warrior is mine at last!

Of course, this Kimpo Warrior is markedly different from the one I reviewed previously. This one has the head of Atoranger instead of Great Mazinger, and a bird-like chest piece instead of the flat orange “V”. You can also see that it has a much different color scheme as well. The arms are black instead of white, the legs black instead of red, and the chest blue instead of yellow. The differences makes them display better together.

Of course, as with most of these toys, there are other color variations out there that I still need to get someday. For now, it’s good to at least have one of each style.

In an ironic twist of fate, it turned out that the one that I got from Jerilock actually had a box that was labeled for the Great Mazinger version. If you’ll recall, however, the Great Mazinger one I already owned had a box that was labeled for the Atoranger version. So now not only do I have both, but I’ve finally got the proper box for each one!

You can also see the proper belt here, that was missing on my existing version. I still need to replace that.

Well, besides showing off the differences between the two versions, there is not much else to say that wasn’t already said in the previous review. Except maybe “Gimme that damn Gundam box, Jerilock!”
