Kup

After Titans Return Hot Rod I was really wondering if we would be getting a 1986 movie style Kup to go with him, and thankfully, here it is!

In Robot mode, kup’s color scheme is for the most part, true to his G1 toy and for that, I like it a lot. Details like the headlights showing through his clear windshield chest are really cool, and the overall proportions are well balanced. One aspect of this mode that’s really impressive, is it’s complete lack of kibble or extraneous parts, making for a design that’s very clean and blocky, perfect for Kup. One final detail is Kup’s Titan Master that, while looking kinda boring in it’s robot mode, transforms into a very expressive head sculpt that makes sure you know what the character of Kup is all about by looking at it. What makes this even better, is the figure’s redesigned neck connector, where the Titan Master has to be plugged in with his head backwards for a very secure fit. Articulation is pretty standard, so no complaints there but Kup does have a wrist joint due to the Transformation, so his hands can move out. My one grievance is that the hips are really loose on mine, but your mileage may vary.

Kup’s accessories are two guns that look like hand cannons. He holds them a little loosely on mine, but it’s nothing major. The guns can of course combine, and seat a Titan Master really securely. When combined, the guns can be stored on his back, and I like to think of it as a jet pack of sorts.

Size for Kup is pretty accurate as far as I’m concerned when compared to Hot Rod as, they are about the same height.

Transformation is really creative and smart. Kup’s arms fold up into a solid block while his legs unfold themselves, and the fold back together the other way, making the entire back and sides of the truck. Finally, the windshield opens, and the front hood and bumper folds out.

Kup’s Vehicle mode is an amazing representation of his G1 truck, and a very solid one at that. Although the mode itself is awesome, the Titan Master has a really hard time sitting down securely in it. Additional Titan Masters can stand on Kup’s truck bed and use his dual guns as turrets which is a nice touch.

Overall, I couldn’t be much happier about Transformers Deluxe Class Kup. He’s a great reimagining of the character, with an awesome Transformation, alt mode, and robot mode that makes for a perfect companion piece to Hot Rod, and a great addition to your ’86 movie collection.
