LAAT Republic Gunship (Muunilist-10)
This build was a whole different paradigm of brick-building for me. This is what is known as a MOC (My Own Creation). Lego and other brick fans build their own designs, upload the instructions, and it’s up to you to source the bricks.
Webrick has partnered with designer thelegowolfpack to bring you his LAAT Republic Gunship MOC. Webrick picks all the Lego-compatible parts, and sends them to you to build with PDF instructions.

The parts arrive in numbered bags, but the bags don’t mean anything to you – you have to open and sort all the parts before building. The kit is sort of a grey area I guess in that there are no Star Wars logos or copyright. This kit is an original design, so it’s not a copy of any Lego kit. It’s just a fan build that Webrick provides you the parts to make. The end result is a cool build, but not for beginners. There is one major “illegal” technique used, and some parts are substituted with different colors.
This Republic Gunship is the one from the 2003 Cartoon Network Clone Wars animated series. The Gunship is decked out with Rancor nose art, and is the official ride of the Elite clonetrooper squad, the Muunilist 10. The set consists of 1630 pieces.
No mini figures are included, but it can fit 17 figures with the doors open, or 8 with the doors closed + 2 pilots.
The front of the gunship features movable turrets and an opening cockpit. The entire top section can lift off to access the second cockpit.
The side doors open on both sides, but the connection is not great – The hinges are very touchy, and come off easily. The same can be said for the curved bits on the bottom of the doors. This kit is meant for display, not for play.
The illegal connection is the twisting of the long bars that make up the back angle of the gunship. This is the kind of engineering that you won’t find in official sets but here they can get away with it.
The cannon on the back can tilt up and down.
The wings don’t move, but they look great. The guns on the top have some parts replaced from the original kit – the grey engine barrels are supposed to be blue. The instructions do a good job of telling you what parts are being substituted.
