I picked this toy up a few months ago thanks to the help of a friend. Its always been a toy I’ve been interested in since I first saw it. The opportunity came along and the price was right so I decided to bite.

The condition of this toy is excellent. even the box is pretty good aside from an unfortunate tear in the lid. it comes packed in a Styrofoam tray with a gun several (fireable) missiles. a scale pilot figure, stickers and two sets of instructions.

Starting with Armo-Soldier mode. The shoulders hips and knees are all ratcheted and hold very well. The hips are a bit stiff and moving them make me a tad nervous. There is also a second articulation point at the shoulders and the elbows can bend and swivel. Although the color scheme doesn’t really match the animation (a lot of white detail on the legs shoulders and arms is absent) I don’t really mind. This toy also doesn’t have the opening missile hatches shown in the animation. I’ve always liked the head design, it must have a hard time seeing forwards.

The “gerwalk” mode is called Armo-diver. The transformation is simple and everything flips, rotates and locks into place well. Unfortunately during my photo shoot I was unable to get the toy to stand on its own. It is possible and I have seen the toy stand before, so I suppose I just couldn’t get the legs into the right position.

Finally comes fighter mode The sensor pod flips into the back and the arms and legs collapse and hinge into position.There aren’t any locks but the joints hold everything in position well. Also because I know someone will point it out about 2 minutes after I post this review, I know I forgot to flip up the rear tail fins. There are die-cast metal landing gear that flip out at the push of a button. The wheels do roll but the landing gear have a tendency to collapse. Aside from screws and a few pins they are the only metal in the toy.

The cockpit also opens and you can see the pilot sitting inside.

This is a made in Japan toy. Latter examples of the toy were made in Singapore and sold in the United States and Europe as Henshin Robo and Robotech toys.

To sum up this toy is big, fun chunky and transforms into all 3 modes. Although it is not the most anime accurate design it is my favorite Legioss toy.
