Mega T-Rex

$29.99

I may have said this before, but one of the cool things about having kids is that I get a chance to play with actual toys. Each night when I come home, my sons ambush me to get me to play with them. Some favorites are Lego, cars, puzzles, and Dinosaurs. My boys totally dig Fisher-Prices Imaginext Dinosaurs line. We have a lot of the toys, but the standout of the line is the Mega T-Rex.

This toy is cool enough that I think that you, the CollectionDX reader, will appreciate it.

First of all this toy is tall – about 12”. It has a really cool stylized sculpt which appeals to the part of me that reluctantly likes some designer vinyls. The T-Rex is solid and pretty well poseable. My kids beat the crap out of it, and it looks as good as new. Articulation is decent, with joints in the neck, arms, legs, feet, and tail.

But what makes this toy really special is the electronic action feature. Press the button on the lower back either forward or backward to make the dinosaur swing about his head and roar, with glowing eyes! The movement is very lifelike and seemingly random. It really is fantastic.

I know all you Japanese Toy nerds are not going to run out and buy this for your collections, but those of you with kids will really appreciate it. I really like this because it is an actual TOY that KIDS can play with. It makes you think how off track we have become when we are calling fragile $200 robots “Toys”.
