Neo Getter 1 (Test and Training Machine)

Original MSRP: 9,800

Aoshima is a great company that produces many iconic robots, ships, and vehicles. They released Neo-Getter 1 from the very cool four-part OVA Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo. There had been three initial and then two additional releases of this little known Getter by Aoshima. Two of the previous releases have been reviewed by JoshB, the most recent release Neo Getter Black Version Anime Export Exclusive and the normal Neo Getter 1.

I really love the look of this Getter and have owned all five at some point. I had bought this version three years ago, but it came broken, so I sold it. The recent turn in the economy has hit the Aoshima Getter line hard. Bad for owners of the robots… great for people looking to buy.

This version is called Test and Training Machine in addition to its Neo Getter 1 moniker. It comes in the normal packing styrofoam tray, but with an appropriately black, white, and grey box to match this version.

Unlike the test and training version of Getter 1 (no wing, machine guns, or second Getter Tomahawk), and the above mentioned Neo Getter Black Version (no chain fists, extra arms), this release is plain in color scheme only and comes with all the parts from the normal version.

I said plain, but I should have said wonderful. The stark white and grey accents make this fella pop and stick out in any collection. I did love the look of T&T Getter 1, but its missing accessories drove me batty, and yes, I know that it is anime accurate for them to be MIA.

Neo Getter has diecast rocket packs with FIRING!!! missiles.

The forearms and hands fit in arms with friction posts.

The chain arms are real metal, and I learned while doing this review that you can switch the fists on the hand pegs.

It, of course, includes the energy bolt to match his best “killer” move in the anime.

He stands around the same size as normal SOC chogokin.

This version is a must if you own the black version. They make a nice Ying and Yang look or good vs. evil battles.

The posability of this figure is limited, but with the chain arms, different hands, great lines, and a ton o’ diecast he is great to own.

Like I said, the current economy has hit the Aoshima Getter line very hard. I sold this guy for $135 plus shipping, and he had a broken hip. Flash forward three years and I got this guy (who I missed) for under $70 in brand new, mint condition. The drop is bad for people that bought before the crash, but a great opportunity now. I recommend this figure… if nothing else he can befriend Taekwon V or protect a threatened TAB can.
