Police Braver Zero Perfect Set
While the Police Braver Zero Perfect Set seems like a repaint of the previously-reviewed NULL set, it’s actually a mostly new toy. This set features a licensed Nissan GT-R Unmarked Patrol Car, a Honda VFR Police Bike, and the Investigation Police Jobroid RAY. Ray can combine with either the car or the motorcycle, but not both.
None of the vehicles are in scale with each other, and Ray cannot ride the bike.
The cars in this set and the Null set look similar, but are actually different vehicles. While they are both unmarked police cars, Null is a Nissan Z and Zero is a Nissan GT-R.
With NULL, barely-black stickers were added to all the windows, but on ZERO, they are all painted on, with the only decals being two small vent panels on the hood.
Ray is the same Jobroid sculpt as the other Polica Jobroid figures. Again you can choose from an assortment of stickers for the eyes, and here you get a little arm band sticker.
Ray can store either the gun or the club at the back of his head.
The police bike is… not great. Ray cannot ride it, and it does not have a kickstand to stand on its own. Parts fit is not great, and most of the plastic is softer and lighter than what is used on the car. The weapons can be plugged into the holes on the side of the back, and can be used to prop up the bike.
To combine Ray with the bike, the top half separates from the bottom half, and then that bottom half splits into font and back sections. Those wheeled sections become the legs, while the top half becomes the head and arms.
The result is lanky and flimsy. The head doesn’t move, the arms pivot at the body and have a useless ball joint at the elbows. The Jobraver unit forms the torso and upper legs, and the feet use parts of the cycle to balance. It’s fine, but not great.
Fortunately the car mode fares better. It’s the same familiar transformation as the other car-based Jobravers, so there are no suprises here.
With a new (ish) line like Jobraver, I like to check out one of each style of transformation. Tomica lines tend to do a lot of re-colors and slight re-molds that are essentially the same toy. I got this set because of the bike, but its a bit of a letdown. The other combination is solid, so if you only have this set, it’s fine. I think it’s a missed opportunity to not have a combination that includes both the bike and the car as one robot, but what can you do.
