Sir Jogo

Original MSRP: 1750
Toy Number: GA-87

Sir Jogo was one of the three “Spaceketeers” on Jim Terry’s Force Five, but he originates from the Japanese series Starzinger. Starzinger was created in 1978 by Leiji Matsumoto and was based on the classic Chinese tale “Journey to the west” where Sir Jogo was based off of the water demon Sha Wujing who’s Japanese name was Gojyo (hence the “Jogo”).

Thinking audiences in the US would not know Journey to the West, the US version instead referenced The Three Musketeers, where the character was renamed Arimos, a play on the Muskateer Aramis.

Popy released a series of toys for this show, including many in the Chogokin and Popinica line.

This release was GA-87 in the Chogokin line.

The box is beautiful as always.

The bottom has a sticker from Marukai Trading Company. This company imported many Japanese toys into the US, and they slapped stickers like these on the boxes.

Inside, the toy comes with a catalog and instruction sheet, as well as it’s accessories.

Sir Jogo

Sir Jogo comes with six red missiles, three trident missiles, and a missile launching pistol.

Sir Jogo

The toy is simply awesome. Sir Jogo has a great blue and chrome color scheme that accentuates his aquatic nature. His chest, upper arms and lower legs are all diecast metal. The rest is that brittle blue plastic that Popy used on all of its toys back then. I have not heard of any issues with this particular toy, but you can never be too careful. use extreme caution when handling this one.

The chest features two flip-up missile launchers, but beware they are VERY tight. The waist includes a removable data pad.

The flippers, they do not come off.

Sir Jogo has movable knees and elbows!

The trident missiles can be held in the left hand, or be placed in the gun to be fired with spring-loaded action.

Sir Jogo is an interesting and striking gokin. I worry about his fragility, but he just looks awesome.
