Reconnaissance Boat Owan Use
In Japan, you can’t have Sushi without a steaming hot bowl of Miso soup. It only makes sense then that the vehicle for transforming Sushi robots would be a miso soup bowl.
Sushi Squadron Shallyders is a new toy line from TakaraTomy as part of their A.R.T.S. brand. Basically it’s sushi that transform into robots and fight each other, and it’s completely awesome.
The Reconnoissance Boat Owan Issue takes the form of a traditional black laqueur soup bowl with lid. It’s the vehicle of the Temakizu fighters.
The bowl is in-scale to the robot figures and feels just a bit smaller than the bowl would in real life. If it weren’t for the subtle seams, you’d think it was a real bowl with lid.
Splitting the bowl open reveals the red interior, which is a common color for these black soup bowls.
In order to make the boat, you must unfold the control panel and guns, and also flip around the wheels. The two sections are then connected together.
There are a lot of stickers to apply, mostly around the control panel area. It adds a nice level of detail to a soup bowl turned warship.
The rear platform features spots for three additional Temakizu warriors.
One warrior can fit into the cockpit and grasp the controls with both hands.
Grooves on the side of the cannon provide storage for the shields included with each Temikazu.
This thing is so cool. It has a bit of a Microman vibe being a life-sized transforming household object. I can’t wait to get more.
For additional fun, the very back has a trailer hitch that is compatible with Tomy’s Plarail system (known as Tomica in the US), and the wheels underneath are even the same as their trains, making Shallyder compatible with all Plarail sets! See the video review for more details.
