Rosenthal CR-Hogire Noblesse Oblige

I know I can’t hold a candle to the master model builders here on CDX. Modcineaste, Rob Braun, Shogundan and Anavel all have mad modeling skills. Me? I never had the patience. I’ve always loved to put things together – to assemble and disassemble, but I like to have a finished product when I am done. I want to be finished when I finish assembly. That’s why these Kotobukiya kits are so great.

Once you finish putting the parts together – that’s pretty much it. No need to paint or detail if you don’t want to. Hell, these things don’t really need glue, although it helps with the smaller parts.

Lately building model kits has become a family affair. My boys are just old enough to be able to help, although sometimes it ends up being more of a hindrance. Nathan (7) cuts the parts off of the runners and does some assembly. Justin (5) finds the runners based on letter. I do the fine work, cutting off sprue remnants, and making sure directions are followed in order. It might take a little longer this way, but I think it helps the kids develop fine motor skills. Plus it’s good for some father / son time.

So this kit is the 1/72 scale Rosenthal CR-Hogire Noblesse Oblige from the Armored Core series of video games. It’s white, with a lot of sharp detail.

Assembly is pretty much the same as other Armored Core figures, following the same assembly order. Shoulders, arms, legs, feet, waist, chest and then armament. Even the construction style is very similar. Once you have done a few you can ALMOST do the kit without instructions.

What makes each kit different is the details. While the main body structure is the same, each part has unique design elements that sets it apart from the others. This particular figure has gold accent points, with sharp fin-like parts. This thing is very sharp in certain places.

The weaponry for this kit is nice, with two guns, and large foldable back cannons.

These cannons can be folded back to hug against the body, or be fanned out for attack.

Also included are variant hands.

It is worth noting that each limb and accessory can be shared among other Armored Core model kits, so you can mix and match parts all you want.

The background used in these images are the Kotobukiya Mechanical chain Bases, made in a scale that works with their kits. We’ve shown them before, but this may be the first time we’ve used an actual Koto kit with them.
