Roteaugen Summit Security Force
Our own Prometheum5 (Ben Mininberg) 3D printed these action figures for the 2014 East Coast Summit in limited CDX colors. I couldn’t not get one. It’s been on my desk for the months since and I’ve probably played with it more than I should considering its limited nature. The good news is it’s held up to everything I’ve thrown at it so far.
The Roteaugen figure stands 4″ tall and features 11 points of articulation. It’s constructed out of durable ABS plastic that is printed from a 3D printer. The figure was then treated to an acid bath to smooth out edges, and then painted with Monster Kolor paints and acrylics.
The result is a weathered, war-hardened security trooper in 1/18 scale.
Articulation is basic, but good. Ball joints are found at the shoulders, hips and feet. Hinge and swivel joints for the rest. The joints start out tight, but after fiddling with it for a while the feet and hips have loosened up a bit.
The gun can be removed from the hand.
He looks good next to figures of comparable size.
It’s great to not only see the advances of 3D printing, but also to see my friends advance in their skills in producing toys. I’m honored that he chose to do this version in CDX colors, and that he sent the force to the summit to ensure nothing was stolen.
