Sailor Mercury
Sailor Mercury, AKA Ami Mizuno, is the first Sailor Senshi to be discovered by Sailor Moon. Ami is a shy, yet smart schoolgirl. In fact, her IQ is rumored to be 300. This effectively makes Ami the smartest member of the Sailor Senshi. She is such a bookworm that she is even known to scold the other scouts for not completing their schoolwork.
Since Sailor Mercury is the second Sailor Senshi to appear in Sailor Moon, Bandai have fittingly decided to release her second in the S.H. Figuarts Sailor Moon line.
The S.H. Figuarts Sailor Mercury looks fairly good. Bandai have done a good job at sculpting the long-limbed heroine.
Besides the standard hands and face, seen in the previous few shots, Sailor Mercury also comes with 3 extra faceplates and 9 hands; these can be combined in many ways to show the sweet and serious sides of Ami.
Like with Jupiter, Mercury’s facial features are a bit soft.
Articulation for Sailor Mercury is the same as the other Sailor Senshi; there are ball joints, swivels and double joints aplenty on this toy. Once again, the only real omission is that of an extra ball joint at the base of the neck.
Nevertheless, you can maneuver Mercury into all sort of poses.I also found Mercury’s short hair made her head easier to pose than the heads of the long-haired Senshi.
As with the other Sailor Senshi, the skirt of the figure is made of soft plastic that gives way to the movement of the legs.
Also included in this release is a branded Tamashii stage.
This allows you to pose Sailor Mercury in more extreme and/or aerial poses.
…
Oh noes! The interview has been interrupted to reveal Queen Woodryl’s , substitute commander of the Dark Kingdom, plot
Her minion… or is it his minion? The whole gender-bending thing was why I found later seasons of Sailor Moon a bit weird…
Anyhow… Woodryl’s monster of the week is confronting the valiant Sailor Moon.
Did I say valiant? Looks like things got a little too hot for our heroine.
You leave Usagi alone. Otherwise you will have to answer to me!
Heh! Another pretty girl in a school uniform. Bring it on!
*Luckily for S.H. Figuarts Sailor Mercury, she comes with her visor, attached to a second front hair piece, and her trusty handheld computer.*
Time to find out what this monster’s weakness is!
*The previous sequence may have been dramatized for review purposes.*
According to the Pokémon ROM on my computer, you are a fire type and your weakness is water.
Lucky for us, I happen to use water-based attacks.
*Cue that stock footage attack*
Bubbu Supray Frezingu
*Once again the day has been saved by Sailor Moon and her ally Sailor Mercury…but mostly Mercury*
The S.H. Figuarts Sailor Mercury is just as good as the other Sailor Senshi in the line. She is obviously a must-own for those have a complete set of Sailor Senshi to their collection or for fans of the nerdy cute Ami.
