Shadowtrooper
With the long-awaited debut of Super 7’s first entry in their Super Shogun line, the Stormtrooper, the next entry in the line was teased on the box. Everyone knew that Boba Fett was in the pipeline. And while it would take a long time for that to come to fruition, in the interim jumbo fans had to settle for a re-color of the Stormtrooper. Sold exclusively at Celebration 2015 (though like many “exclusive” con releases, it would also be available at certain online retailers), the Shadowtrooper was produced in association with Funko and limited to only 500 pieces. It wasn’t a priority for me when it was released, but I decided recently to circle back and add it to my jumbo collection.
Similar to the previously released Stormtrooper, the Shadowtrooper came in two boxes. The outer shipping box was plain brown cardboard with black printing on it.
The regular interior box upped the ante by adding more colors and even a chrome finish on the logo. Lots of classic text describing the toy’s features populate the rest of the area.
As the toy is exactly the same as the first release with only the color changed, there’s not too much to say about it that wasn’t said in the Stormtrooper review. It’s a Stormtrooper, but it’s black.
Like the Stormtrooper, this Shadowtrooper includes an E-11 Blastech Laser Blaster (which I put together properly this time).
It still has the firing left fist, as well.
It also comes with instructions and 2 waist stickers with the word Shadowtrooper written in both English and Japanese. Unlike with the Stormtrooper, I decided to go ahead and choose one to apply this time around.
As mentioned previously, there’s not much to separate the Shadowtrooper from the Stormtrooper. It’s just a recolor. It was the last officially released version of this mold, however there were multiple other colors produced. I believe they were sold as part of a charity event on eBay, if I remember correctly.
A handful of prototype versions of the Stormtrooper with pink parts are also out there.
