Retro Eagle Freighter

Review by AJProDie-Cast
One of my favorite vehicles, the Eagle from Space 1999. I bought and liked the diecast collectibles by Product Enterprise. I am always searching on various sites for diecast collectibles of my favorite shows.
One day I came across a blue Eagle Freighter. It was not a listing of an old Dinky Eagle, it was a 12 inch modern homage to the retro dinky 1970’s version released by Sixteen 12 Collectibles LTD. I clicked on “add to cart” and the journey for this review began.
The box grabbed hold of me and the color scheme was such a nice call back to the 70’s and 80’s when toys looked nothing like the shows they came from.
I loved the backstory and detailed packaging.
The Eagle comes in a plastic tray and even comes with retro packaging.
The retro colour scheme, while annoying to children of the 70's is a cool and crisp metallic blue pod, legs, and fuselage and the red boosters, thrusters, and magnetic “lifter” looks sharp.
The diecast is the legs, head, and base of cargo tray.
The only gimmick is the pod, lifter on a pulley (*sigh* it is a static string) and six yellow nuclear waste canisters.
The Eagle freighter has a pod that has a hanging clip for the back and a clip-in on the front end.
It has a static string (I think the Product Enterprise version had a pulley?) with the red magnetic part on the end and the canisters pull right onto it (see video).
Overall, pretty cool and very grateful that Sixteen 12 Collectibles LTD has taken up the mantle of producing this iconic spacecraft from my childhood! Bravo!

I may have to hunt those down. I always wanted the Dinky freighter Eagle. I still have the passenger one. I missed the Product Enterprises Freighter and Lab ones. If I remember the original Dinky had a thumb wheel winch. Also if you are looking for Eagles, Eaglemoss just released the Standard Passenger, the Heavy Lift versions with the Lab Eagle supposed to be out any day now. They are 10”.
Something I discovered while looking into this Eagle. Sixteen12 IS the same people as Product Enterprise from 10-15 years ago. Their 12” Eagles are improvements over the older PE ones. Which were gorgeous back then. Among the improvements are spun aluminum engine and thruster bells. Sadly they are hard to find as they are only produced in very limited numbers for each offering. If you want to see amazing look up their 44” Studio Scale Eagles. Which are super detailed and in scale with 3 3/4” action figures. They have produced and sold out the standard white Eagle, the red striped rescue Eagle, the orange VIP Eagle. I think they have the laboratory Eagle and cargo lifter Eagle up for preorder.
