Skyquake

My Transformer buying is very hit and miss. If I do pick one up, it’s usually because i’m bored and out shopping with the family. Sometimes I actually lok for one because I like the design, but usually it’s just to satisfy a fix.

Skyquake is one of those “fixes”. I almost never buy smaller-size Transformers, but this one caught my eye. It had a pleasing design and I’m a sucker for translucent parts.

This is the “Cyberverse Commander” Skyquake, whatever that means, and it’s a repaint of Dreadwing with new weapons. PC300964.jpg

The vehicle mode is a modified F-35 Lightning II fighter jet. It looks pretty good from the front, but when you look at the back it does a poor job of hiding the robot parts.

The included two part weapon can be attached to the 3mm peg on the top, or under either wing.

The good thing about this class of Transformer is that the transformation is simple and effective. Toys in this scale used to be a lot simpler, but now they’ve found the right balance.

Robot mode looks cool, but you have to remember to position the shoulder pads properly as they have a tendency to bump out of alignment.

All of the joints are ball joints, except for the knees. Skyquake is stable in robot mode and can hold a variety of poses.

The two part cannon can be displayed in a variety of ways in this mode.

You can store the combined weapon on his back, or he can hold it in both hands.

The weapon separates and can be held in either hand.

Not that I want to start buying a lot of Transformers again, but Skyquake is a pretty cool toy for $10.
