Space Battleship Yamato Last Battle

This was part of a set of prize figures that you could get out of claw games in Japan. In this scene, called “Space Battleship Yamato Last Battle” it represents the escape of the Yamato from beneath the surface of the planet Gamilas. It’s actually pretty big and solid.

The box is large, but has a carrying handle and a string so it can be grabbed by claw machines.

The back showcases the other set in the series.

This thing is super cool, but it’s just a display piece. It doesn’t do anything, nor is anything removable. But the detail is great for a prize figure.

The whole thing stands about 10 inches tall.

The Yamato is in forced perspective, emerging from the underground sea. The surface of the planet shows a crater. A cardboard picture serves as the backdrop.

A Gamelon building hangs from the roof of the planet’s crust.

Weathering and paint are nice, but the details are a bit gummy, as the whole thing is made out of PVC.

One “arm” of the building was not connected on this sample. Not sure if that’s the same on everyone’s version.

I love this thing. I wish they made more, but there is only one other, which I have yet to get.
