Spacey Spider

Original MSRP: 11.97

This is a cool one, a bit weird, and a bit incomplete, but thought it would be fun to show. Spacey Spider was released by Talbot Toys in 1985, but was actually manufactured by Tai Fong of Taiwan in 1984. Eschewing the Transformers craze of the time, Tai Fong went with a more retro space look for this battery operated toy.

The box is amazing, almost worth the purchase alone.

The toy itself is pretty fun, and actually came in a few color variations. It requires 2 AA Batteries (not included)

With the batteries inserted, the legs move the figure around, the eyes light up, and the chest cavity opens to reveal a small astronaut that slides out to fire before closing quickly.

The arms are rather well articulated and can hold the missing weapons.

The silver weapons that are supposed to attach to the shoulders are stolen from the Popy (or Godaikin) Godsigma. I’m sure that gun is stolen from somewhere as well.

The eyes are AMAZING looking.

Just another fun, weird 80s oddity. Note that the chest sticker can fall off with age, this one fell off as we were handling it.
