Spy Monkey Armory
Spy Monkey Creations is a small American toy company that creates original action figures and accessories that utilize the Glyos Joint System.
Their first release was a series of weapons called the Spy Monkey Armory. This set of weapons is designed to be in-scale with Mattel’s Masters of the Universe toy line. While I don’t collect MOTU figures, I do love Glyos and once I saw some custom builds over at the Onell Design blog I was sold.
From the Spy Monkey site:
“The Spy Monkey Armory Weapon Sets are available in eight different colorways. Each set includes 42 Interchangeable Glyos System compatible parts. Each set includes 5 complete weapon builds including : 1 – Master Blade (6 parts), 1 – Demon Sabre (3 parts), 1 – Falcon Sabre (3 parts), 1 – War Shield (10 parts) and 1 – Dominar (12 parts). Plus 8 bonus parts and adaptors!”
I ordered a few sets, but in particular we’re looking at the Bloodlust colorway.
In this review I’m going to use the only MOTU figure I own, Skeletor.
The Demon Sabre is comprised of three parts – Blade, handle and hilt.
The master Blade has 6 parts – Blade, hilt, hilt sides (2) handle, and handle-end.
The War Shield is one of my favorite parts with 10 pieces. (4 points, red clear dome, disc, 2 handle parts, 2 plugs). Plugging in items to the shield is difficult.
The Dominar ups the parts count to 12 pcs.
The Falcon Sabre has three parts:
On, on their own, there are a lot of parts, and a lot of different combinations.
But what happens when you combine two sets?
I started to try to replicate some of Matt’s builds with mixed results.

That was fun. But then I wanted to make something original. I combined two armory sets with a few Wraith Pheydens to make this monstrosity.
At about $20 per set there is a lot of play value here, regardless of whether you use them as action figure accessories or you make your own creation. They build quality is exactly the same as Glyos and they make a nice addition to the universe. Support your independent toy makers and check them out at http://www.spymonkeycreations.com/
