The Stanley Cup

The Stanley Cup is quite possibly the most recognizable trophies in all of professional sports. Hundreds of players from all over the NHL pour their hopes and dreams into one day lifting the cup above their heads.

This particular Stanley Cup comes from an old tabletop hockey game that has long been stuff into the rafters of the garage. What I do remember about the game is that it was old enough to include the Winnipeg Jets as a playable team. This little Stanley cup is a hollow piece of chromed plastic. While is a far cry from the 35 pound trophy, it is undeniably the Stanly Cup.

I lieu of having hundreds of little names etched on it, this mini cup lists all the teams that have won the Stanley Cup up until 1986. It’s quite a nice bit of detailing as you can actually read all the little team names.

Now I wanted to show off pictures of of the cup in the hands of various action figures. Unfortunately I couldn’t find one that could hold the cup above its head. I guess I’ll have to wait for the eventual SH Figuarts Zdeno Chara.

Overall this little Stanley Cup is really nothing more than a cheap little piece of plastic, but I’m glad to have it in my collection.
