Submarine Robot

Toy Number: SR-909

it’s a Robot! It’s a Submarine! It’s Submarine Robot!

Submarine Robot is another plastic wind up from Masudaya. In this case there was an actual line, called “Sea Defender”. Submarine Robot is joined by Patrol Robot and Cruiser Robot in the series. They are actual bath toys that work in water.

These toys came bagged with the slip on card like you see below, or in boxes.

Slide the cardboard sleeve off and it’s a convincing toy sub. The yellow flaps up front control the direction of the Submarine underwater. Turn the knob at the bottom and the propellor spins.

Seeing as this is a toy for little children, transformation is simple. Pull down the legs, pull out the arms, and rotate the covering over the head. Finally, push in the tower. Despite being for kids, It can be difficult to pull the arms all the way out. Once transformed, the only articulation is in the head.

As a bonus, here’s a picture of a box of them which could be unfolded as a countertop display.

Submarine Robot looks great next to the other Sea Defenders. I love obscure little toys like this, they are a fascinating thing to collect.
