Tomahawk Destroid Mk IV
The Tomahawk Destroid Mk IV is one of those great mechas in Macross that got little face time but has a legion of fans. I love the old diecast Takatoku version, but this Kaiyodo trading figure puts a whole new spin on a classic design.
I sincerely doubt that the original mecha was designed to achieve poses that this toy can. From the brief appearances on Macross, these things appear to have little range of motion.
This K&M Super Dimension Figure changes all that. This figure is insanely detailed, with about 12 points of articulation. I mean, the head even moves. Did you know that this character had a head? I didn’t! You learn something new every day!
Like the armored Valkyrie in the same line, the Tomahawk Destroid features 2 opening shoulder compartments that reveal banks of launching missiles.
At just a few inches tall, this figure is not just a trading figure, it is a fully articulated action figure. Sculpted by Katsuhisa Yamaguchi (The creative force behind Revoltech), the paint and detail are top notch. It is hard to imagine that when these came out they only retailed for 300 yen!
Macross purists may scoff at the liberties taken with the design, but toy fanatics will go crazy over these. What are you waiting for – track them down!
