Unmasked Berserker
This is the one that broke me. I damn near threw this one out at the end of this, and I probably should, as there’s no fixing it. The Unmasked Berserker Predator comes from the 2010 movie “Predators”.
So right away you can see that this one is different. Much more vibrant colors, almost too vibrant.
Paint is nice, but it gets a little sloppy on the head.
Boots again, no ankles. Double pin joints in the knees.
Heres where it goes horribly wrong. I actually opened this figure first among the 7 Predators Hiya sent me. When it came time to swap the hands I was being incredibly careful. I’ve straight up torn the pegs of the arms that hold the hands on trying to remove them. Imagine my surprise when I pulled these out and the connectors are pins!
However, the pins got stuck in the hand, not the arm. Meaning I have to remove the pin and get it either back into the arm, or get it in the new hand. I should have taken this as a warning sign, an omen if you will. I proceeded to remove the pin out of the hand. So far so good. As you can see, this thing is microscopic. Less than 1cm long, maybe .5cm. And I have giant sausage hands.
Try as I might, I cannot get the pin into the arm, or the hand. I try to lubricate either side with water, no luck. Can’t use a hairdryer as I’ll burn my hand. I get the bright idea to get some needle-nose pliers. I was able to grab the pin and get it lined up, but it will not go in. I am about to get ready to heat it up when the little peg just flies out of the pliers, never to be seen again. At that point, there was nothing I can do. No extra pegs to hold the hand. He’s now handless.
WWWHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?!??!?!
I was so pissed. And this is why I will NEVER swap hands out on a Hiya figure ever again.
