VF-1 Missile Set

When Bandai announced the first VF-1 under their DX Chogokin line, it was quickly noticed there were hardpoints on the bottom of the wings, even though no missiles were seen. Why? Because they were to be sold separately.

Sold as a Tamashii web exclusive. For what you get, the box is really nice. Glad Bandai didn’t phone in the effort.

The front shows everything you’re getting, but the back does it more clearly. In total, three different sets of missiles are included, with four-ish of each (depends on how you count).

This includes six reaction missiles, the big boys from Do You Remember Love since they have yellow tips. There are two different mounting pieces, two for single and two for double.

So, six missiles, but on four hardpoints.

You also get four of the micro-missile pods. Also from DYRL, these are the only type that need no assembly. Just plug & play, for four pods filled with five missiles each.

And you also get twelve of the TV style missiles. Each one has two peg holes, so you can mount it on the bracket from either side or the bottom.

Quality wise, the set matches up with the toys it’s meant for. Well sculpted, well painted, nothing cheap about the look or feel of each piece. At $40-ish retail, it’s probably better for anyone who’s been able to get a VF-1 at retail that these were sold separately.

And it’s nice you get so much in one set. Besides mixing & matching, there’s enough here to fully load out three VF-1 units.

But on the other hand, and like the main toy, this set sold out fast & has blown up. Good luck finding one for less than $150+. I’ll probably get one more, but I’m in no rush.
