Xodiac
Xodiac is just the second of the original Colorforms Outer Space Men that I’ve been able to acquire so far as I continue to hold out for complete specimens at a good price. When collecting vintage toys, patience is a prime asset to have. Like Electron+, I was able to get this one with all of his accessories at a price I felt comfortable with. It’s not without it’s issues, but I can live with it.
Like the others in the line, Xodiac is a rubber figure with a bendable wire armature inside. But again, I try not to move it around too much since it is old and I don’t want to apply any more stress to it than necessary. Its job at this point in its life is to simply look good on my shelf with all the other various incarnations of the Outer Space Men.
Xodiac is about 6.5″ tall and includes 3 different accessories; a helmet, a staff and a gun. Both the staff and the gun have sharp plastic protrusions that are meant to be jammed into the rubber of the hands to simulate the toy holding them. It works OK, but honestly they have a tendency to fall out at times as well. Unfortunately, although mine is complete, the staff was broken in two at some point and now has a small piece of tape holding it together.
Like Electron+, Xodiac’s helmet a two-piece clear plastic construction but you can pretty easily slide it directly over his head.
Removing the helmet exposes are somewhat devilish looking face.
Xodiac has a symbol of his home planet Saturn in the middle of this chest.

In terms of gimmicks, this toy is par for the course of the line and it’s main appeal is in its great character design and the sense of wonder that the line as a whole inspires.
