XRGB3.0 Lightsaber
I’ve got a few Lightsabers that I’ve gotten over the years, but they are all sort of either movie replicas or the ones you build at Galaxy’s Edge. I’ve been aware of the world of high-end sabers but never explored them until I received this XRGB3.0 Lightsaber from Damiensaber (https://www.damiensaber.com/).
The saber ships in a generic box, so if you want to preserve the box, you may want to ask for it to be shipped in another box.

These are much more advanced sabers, with more sounds, more lights, more motion control – and these are dueling sabers – meaning competition ready. Yes, there are actual lightsaber dueling competitions.
This saber opened a new world for me.
Lets go over the basics first.
This is a BASELIT saber. Baselit means there are no LED’s in the blade – the blade gets its light from the hilt, and is just a hollow tube.
This type of blade is meant for dueling. The other type is a Xenopixel – this type has the LED inside the blade, so you get the cool blade transitions and other things, but it’s not recomended for dueling as you could damage the blade.
Xenopixel is also the name of the chip / software in the blade. This can be converted from an RGB version (which I have now) to the pixel version with a convertor (sold separately).
Another exciting aspect of this app is the Bluetooth control – From the app you can update your lightsaber software, activate different color and blade modes, adjust the volume, adjust the brightness and blade length, select the sound package and light effect, check the battery percentage, adjust the sensitivity, and restore the factory settings with one key, etc…

The hilt is fully metal, and is made out of several sections that can be taken apart. There is a speaker at the end, a single button, a USB-C charging port, and then the emitter. The blade is attached by 3 screws and a tool is included to remove it.
The hilt is etched with a cool worn metallic pattern. it’s a really unique look that’s not based on any movie saber, but still feels in-universe. It’s got a nice, heavy feel that feels great in your hand.
The speaker is at the end, and the volume by default is loud! Have no fear, there are settings to adjust the volume.
What sets this saber apart from your standard store-bought saber is the software and motion control. the XRGB3.0 Lightsaber comes pre-loaded with the latest software that has tons of features and options:
– 16 pre loaded fonts – “Fonts” are the pre-configured sound / light combinations. you can select these modes through gestures with the blade or a certain button press
– 3 blade effects – Steady, Pulse and Unstable
– Motion activated on / off, color change, blade sounds.
– Bluetooth integration – this is a cool feature that allows you to control all the settings of your saber via an app. (available for android and ios)
– Upgrade via SD card – you can purchase and download new fonts, new firmware by SD card – card not included.
This saber was SO MUCH FUN, and it has unlocked a new world of lightsabers for me. These custom sabers can go for hundreds of dollars, and are infinitely customizable, so at under $200, this thing feels like a value.
Just swinging it around is a joy. You get the crisp crackles and sizzles of a real lightsaber, and every little motion is captured in sound and light changes. The blade reacts to hits from other objects, can have a sizzle effect like you are burning through a door, and a press of the button while activated can launch different effects like deflecting blaster fire – all depending on what font you select.
All of the saber functions are activated by a single button or motion control. Hold the button and it blinks – the number of blinks determines the setting you are trying to access, and then you can change the settings. Some items are for when the saber is off in standby mode, others are set while the blade is active. An instruction book is included that lists all the options and features, but it takes a bit to master and commit to memory each of the settings. Sometimes I will be trying to get into one menu and discover an entirely different mode.
If I had any complaints, it would be that no stand is included, and there is no loop or hook to hang this off of a belt for cosplay.
But honestly, this is so much fun, and it shipped quickly from China, so you won’t have to wait long to enjoy your saber after ordering it.
