Z'Neth

Dragon Flys are more than action figures – they are honest to goodness TOYS.

Almost mistaken for a flying Power Ranger, based on Abrams/Gentile Entertainment’s popular 1990s action adventure property, Dragon Flyz are flying warriors of the future. Their legend foretells of an uninhabitable Earth in the 40th century, forcing mankind to exist in the skies. With mighty flying dragons as their steeds, heroic Dragon Flyz – Z’Neth, Summit and Peak – are aerial protectors of mankind, who battle the evil mutant Dread Wing.

Each Dragon Flyz figure comes with a figure, Exo Wing pack, Power Launcher, DVD and instructions.

The Figure

This particular figure is named Z’Neth. He is one of the four main Dragon Flyz Figures. Z’Neth is the leader of the Dragon Flyz. His numerous acts of valor have earned him a respect equaled by no one else in Airlandis. Z’Neth rides the mighty dragon Riptor (not included). The figure itself is about the same size as a Star Wars figure. It has 7 points of articulation and is made of sturdy plastic. The figure is a bit light, but it has to be to be able to fly.

ExoWing Pack

The ExoWing Pack is what enables Z’Neth to fly. It snaps into the figures back via 2 pegs. The wings rotate on a shaft attached to the pack. Each wing is actually made out of a durable foam.

Power Launcher

The power launcher is what makes Dragon Flyz "Fly". Once the figure is attached to the ExoWing pack, fold the wings out horizontally and place the bottom of the pack onto the top of the Launcher. Grab the launcher with one hand and pull the ripcord as hard as you can – the figure flies up into the air!

Airborne

I love the concept here, but this thing is definitely a toy and not a collectible (which is ok by me). It just NEEDS to be played with. I liked that it was durable, and looks like a lot of thought went into the design. They could have easily put a poor action figure on this but they actually went the extra mile to make a decent figure, regardless of the flight gimmick. The only real complaint I had was that I found it a bit tricky to keep the figure attached to the launcher – it was prone to falling off before I could pull the ripcord. Other times, the ripcord wouldn’t pull at all, until you re-seated the figure.

Dragon Flyz are recommended for children ages 6 and up, so i’m only about 27 years too old for it. My son Nathan, who is turning 4 loved playing with it but had a hard time pulling the cord hard enough to get escape velocity. Older kids would probably have better luck.

Overall – I recommend it if you like to play with your toys. I mean, it’s a flying action figure! What more needs to be said?
